About Matt Straughton
I founded Fides Accountancy Ltd after spending a decade working within an international finance team, supporting multi-entity operations across Europe. My career progressed from transactional finance roles to Senior Staff Accountant, giving me first-hand insight into how businesses operate behind the scenes — not just at year-end.
During that time, I worked across operational finance, statutory reporting and multi-entity management, while leading initiatives to improve systems, streamline processes and strengthen the finance function.
While working full time, I completed my AAT qualification before going on to qualify as an ACCA Chartered Certified Accountant, combining practical commercial experience with strong technical expertise.
What shaped my approach most was seeing the difference that clear, reliable financial information can make to a business. I understand the pressures of cash flow, reporting deadlines and performance, and the value of having numbers you can use to make decisions with confidence.
That experience now underpins how I work with clients.
